Class 6 (Year 6)
Welcome to Year Six
Miss Hancock, Mrs Crossley and I would like to welcome you to Year 6 at Wakefield Methodist (VC) Junior, Infant and Nursery School.
Our biggest aim within year six is to ensure that your child leaves here as an independent learner who is ready to take on all the amazing opportunities that high school has to offer. In order to do this our biggest focus this year will be developing the children’s self-help skills so that they have the ability to not only look for answers but also raise questions to enhance their learning. We work extremely hard in Year 6, but have lots of fun along the way. We have some great topics to look forward to this year including ‘Meet the Greeks’, 'The Art of Being Human', ‘A Journey Down Route 66’and 'Was John Wesley a Super Hero?' At the end of each topic children are given the opportunities to celebrate their learning by showcasing their work to a wider audience. Watch out for this year's first event coming up in December.
In the Summer Term of Year 6 we have the opportunity to participate in our school residential experience at Robinwood, this is a fantastic residential and I can personally recommend it (It's the best residential I've ever been on!).
I am really looking forward to a great year with your children, just like last year, if you have any concerns or worries please feel free to come in and see me or get in touch via the Class Dojo or email
